Come help us make a difference!
Our mission: to prepare OFF-TRACK thoroughbreds for successful second careers through retraining and a broad foundation of new skills
Do you love horses? Join our team in caring for former racehorses and preparing them to transition into new careers.
Ways to Volunteer:
Barn Help
Hands-on with the horses; grooming, tacking up, bathing.
Scheduled daily feeding: morning and afternoon.
Daily cleaning of stalls and cleaning/organizing of tack and barn area.
Facility / Grounds Maintenance:
Bi-monthly flower bed care/bed maintenance (planting/mulching/weeding)
Spring flower planting: plant/mulch donations, are especially helpful!
We need care and cleaning, but also new spring or fall planting…. especially seasonal flowering plants---donations are not required, just appreciated! Even without new plants, we need loving care!
Facility Maintenance:
Review and reporting/repairing of facility grounds/building/fencing.
Mowing:
mowing of grass areas, including fields.
Experience with mowing fields/ using tractors around horses required!
We have a single riding mower; a weed eater; and a tractor with a bushhog.
Special Events:
We require many volunteers throughout the year to help us with special events in which SC is a participant, such as:
Kentucky/Land Rover Three-Day Event
The Thoroughbred Makeover
Annual and Seasonal Fundraisers
Trade fair and vendor fair booth
All volunteers must have Proof of Health Insurance to work at The Secretariat Center.
